Gerard P. Jellison

Senior Analyst

Dr. Jellison is a versatile scientist with over 30 years of experience in GEOINT, remote sensing, sensor analysis, hyperspectral research, and SIGINT analysis. Responsibilities have included development and use of hyperspectral algorithms, research and development of new spectroscopic analysis techniques, sensor performance assessments, and studies of geolocation accuracy.

After obtaining his physics Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Dr. Jellison made research contributions in an array of technical fields, including electromagnetic pulse analysis, plasma physics, investigation of novel concepts for nuclear fusion, and applications of laser, RF, and ultrasonic technology.

Dr. Jellison’s support to the intelligence community has included the use of hyperspectral data cubes to perform material detection and identification. He has used spectral inversion codes to determine the composition of heated gas plumes. He participated in development of a new algorithm to perform automated clustering of hyperspectral data. He served as a subject matter expert for an advanced NGA College course on the physics of hyperspectral imagery. Dr. Jellison’s current responsibilities at IDI involve the application of Bayesian network modeling to estimate electro-optical satellite accomplishment of imagery collection needs.
